I like the idea of attaching a piece of writing to a piece of art, whether it be a quote, a description, a poem, or just a simple title. Below are 2 poems I wrote with the intention of doing a series of flower paintings with poems to match.
Iris
Gently blowing in the breeze,
lovely iris Japanese.
Butter yellow, tinged with cream,
mirrored in a nearby stream.
It's easy to, while sitting here,
lose track of time, and then I fear,
as sunlight fades, and flower too,
can I hope to save this view?
If I paint for one more hour,
can I preserve this little flower,
and hang it in the main hallway,
enjoy its beauty every day?
Poppies
Poppies red & orange & blue
Pink & white & yellow too
Poppies short and poppies tall
Bloom in spring & some in fall
Double petaled, singles too
Poppies old & poppies new
If I had room against the wall
I think that I would grow them all!
