Now I have no excuse to stare at a blank canvas wondering what to paint.
- Boats - I'd like to do a series of paintings including boats that I've helped to build or design.
- Flowers - Flowers are always a good subject. I have lots of reference photos, gardening books, live flowers in the backyard, etc. I'd also like to do a series of flower photos with poems to match. See the previous post Art Ideas - Poems and Paintings.
- Outdoor painting - I've always wanted to get into plein air painting, but it seems that I have enough trouble getting my act together to paint inside, let alone packing things up for an outdoor trip.
- Night Scenes - Speaking of outdoor painting, I'd love to do some night scenes. It seems almost impossible to capture the atmosphere of a night scene on camera, and I'd love to try it with paint. No doubt it would be a challenge, and I'm sure my first attempts would look horrible in the daylight, but it would be fun to try.
- Portraits - I want to do more portrait painting. I have a few pictures of friends and family that I've been wanting to turn into paintings.
- Caricatures - Speaking of portraits, this may be fun as well.
- Windsurfing - I want to do a series of windsurfing paintings. Maybe some that are kind of abstract too.
- Food and Drink - I want to paint some food pictures for the kitchen downstairs.
- Music - I'd like to do some music themed paintings. I've got enough musical instruments around here; a couple guitars, a piano, a violin, a banjo, etc.
- Quotes - There are some famous quotes that could make nice paintings.
- One Idea, Three Works of Art - this was mentioned in a previous post.
- Knife Painting - I tried painting with a painting knife a while back and it is kind of fun. I should do more of it.
- Size - I'd like to try a really big painting, and maybe also a really small painting.
- Monochrome - Black and white pictures can be nice. I particularly like the ones that are not quite black and white, but have just a hint of color here and there.
- Impasto - This would be a fun change. I usually try to be economical with the amount of paint I use. This would probably have to be a small painting, because of my fear of wasting paint.
All for now.
